Sept 13                  Required for all – Marching Band vs Capital at MCPS Stadium – Students will rehearse 3:45-5:30pm at SHS.  The goal of this rehearsal is to put the marching music together, practice the national anthem, and run 3-4 pep band tunes.  We will eat pizza supplied by the booster parents together and students will be released at 6pm to transport themselves to MCPS Stadium.  Please meet Mr. Nelson at 6:30pm in the stands at the SE corner of the stadium.  We will begin playing at 6:45. The game will start at 7:00pm. No halftime show tonight.  Students will be released at the beginning of 3rd quarter.  Students who stay for the full game can use this time towards a letter and trip to Silverwood in the spring. Note: If you are in an outside school sport or activity, please join us when your practice is finished.  Just let Mr. Nelson know and we will work around it.  Uniform: band shirt, jeans, jacket

Sept 18                  Required for jazz band gold – Jazz Concert with special guest artist, 7pm at Hellgate HS – more info to come!

Sept 28                  Required for all – Marching Band Camp – 8:30am–4pm. We will meet at SHS to work on our halftime show and learn how to parade march as a full band.  Please bring water, healthy snacks and wear your marching shoes.  The boosters will feed the students pizza from 11:30-12:15.   I know there are sports conflicts.  Students, let me know Mr. Nelson know when you will be at camp and/or when you need to leave.

Sept 30                  Required for all – Marching rehearsal after school 3:45-5:30pm.  We will rehearse for the UM Parade as well as work on our halftime show.  Please wear your marching shoes to break them in.  Note: There should be no sports conflicts today.  I cleared it with our AD, Mr. Jannusch last spring.  If there is a conflict, please let Mr. Nelson now asap.

Oct. 3                    Required for all – Sentinel Homecoming Marching Band vs Butte at MCPS Stadium– students will rehearse 3:45-5:30pm at SHS and will clean the show.  We will eat pizza supplied by the booster parents together, change and students will be released at 5:45pm to transport themselves to the Stadium.  Please go directly to the stadium.  We will warm up, unload the moving van, and begin playing immediately.  The game will start at 7:00pm. We will play in the stands at the football game, and we WILL perform our halftime show tonight.  Students will be released after 3rd quarter.  Students who stay for the full game can use this time towards a letter and trip to Silverwood in the spring.    Note: If you are in an outside school sport or activity, please join us when your practice is finished.  Just let Mr. Nelson know and we will work around it.  Uniform: marching shirt, black pants, black socks, marching shoes and shorts (for under the uniform).

Oct 12                   Required for all- Marching Band at UM Homecoming parade – 7:00 am Meet at SHS.  We will briefly practice parade marching, then will bus to the parade site and march the UM Homecoming Parade.  After the parade, we will bus back to SHS.  Uniform: marching shirt, black pants, black socks, marching shoes and shorts (for under the uniform).    NOTE, IF THE WEATHER LOOKS BAD, WE WILL NOT MARCH.

Oct 15                    Required for all - Fall Concert – 7:00 pm – CALL 6:15 pm, Margaret Johnson Theatre

TBD                     Volunteers/Pep Band – Football Playoffs!!!! Play in the stands and be loud!  DRESS WARM!  The goal is to have at least 60 students. These games count towards LETTERING in band!!  They are low pressure and fun!

Dec 2                    Required for Symphonic Band, Jazz Bands and Percussion Ensemble – Holiday Concert – 7:00 pm - Call 6:15pm, Margaret Johnson Theatre

Feb 12                   Required for both jazz bands – Collab concert with Hellgate at Sentinel – 7pm – Call 6:15pm, Margaret Johnson Theatre

Feb 18                   Wind Ensemble & Jazz Band Gold - performance with Meadow Hill and Porter Middle School – 7:00pm – Call 6:15pm, Margaret Johnson Theatre

March 3-4             Required for Wind Ensemble – AA Band Festival in Missoula – All students will rehearse all day and have two evening concerts at Hellgate High School.

 

March 11              Required for Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Bands, and Percussion Ensemble – 7:00 pm, Margaret Johnson Theatre. 

 

March 13 or 14     UM Jazz Festival – Both Jazz Bands, Times TBD

Extra-Curricular/Honor Performance Ensemble Dates

Oct 16-18            All-State Band students only – Festival will be held in Billings.  Uniform: Tux suit or concert dress. Wear nice school clothes during festival rehearsals (look professional).

Nov. 8-10            UM All Star Band – More info to come!

March 15-16       All-State Jazz Band – Festival will be held in Missoula.  Auditions will be recorded in the Fall.
